Fruits and Veggies; What they can do for you!

 

FRUITS

- High-acid Fruit –oranges, pineapples, sour apples, grapefruits, tangerines, tomatoes.

- Low-acid Fruit: blueberries, strawberries, mangos, sweet apples, cherries are less detoxifying than acid fruits and can be handled well in any amount.

- Melons: watermelons, cantaloupes, honey dew Watermelons contain as much iron as spinach. Eat as much of them as you like.

     - Starchy Fruit: bananas**, peanuts, pumpkins, winter squash

 

     - Non-starchy Fruit: cucumber, sweet pepper, zucchini, egg plant, yellow squash 

 

**Bananas – contain natural sugars of sucrose, fructose and glucose, plus fiber, Vitamin B6, iron, potassium and tryptophan (to help with depression and sleep).

Don't eat more than one banana a day -- if you gain weight easily

Veggies!

  • VEGETABLES - along with fruits, vegetables are the only right nutrition for the human body. Vegetables contain amino acids and antioxidants in forms that do not occur in other foods. You can eat unlimited amounts. Vegetables are most nutritious when eaten raw.

- Non-Starchy (usually green) Vegetables: alfalfa sprouts, asparagus,  broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, dandelion greens, garlic, green beans, kale, lettuce, okra, onions, parsley, radishes, rhubarb, spinach, turnips

- Mildly Starchy Vegetables: carrots, green peas, rutabagas, cauliflower, beets

- Starchy Vegetables: corn, dried beans, artichokes, potatoes

- Protein-containing Vegetables -dried beans, dried peas, soybeans, lentils

 

The Dirty Dozen- This is a list of the top 12 foods that you need to buy organic because of their high pesticide levels, which includes apples, strawberries, raspberries, spinach, and potatoes. The Clean 15- This is a list of 15 fruits and vegetables that are safe to buy non-organic because they contain little to no pesticide residue. TheClean15.

- DetoxificationFruit (particularly acidic fruit like grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, tomatoes) helps further stimulate the natural detoxification that begins while you are sleeping. That’s why it is important to eat fruit only before 12 Noon. 

- Fiber ContentPlenty of fiber helps fight high blood pressure and other factors that increase the chance for heart disease.

- Memory Stimulant – Fruit makes you think faster and recall information more easily, as do carrots.

- Brain blockers = The following have a negative effect on the brain functioning:

  • White flour, especially in combination with cheese, takes more energy to digest. As a result blood has to be sent to the digestive systeminstead of stimulating the brain
  • Refined white sugar
  • Turkey contains a toxic element with a strong tiring effect, that makes you sleepy
The combination of proteins (meat) and starch (potatoes) will require more energy to burn than separately. 

Why fruits and veggies are better substitutes for:

 

- Stimulants - A stimulant is a substance that quickly changes a symptom in an unnatural way.  

    List of most common stimulants

*Refined white sugar in such items as cola, ketchup, ice cream, desserts,canned foods  
Possible substitutes: 
- cane sugar; tastes the same, same kick.
- fruit juices; same kick from natural sugars.

Caffeine in cola, coffee, tea, and chocolate

Substitute  fruit juices or Japanese or Chinese green tea. 
Diet pills
Substitute: Fruit, which is detoxifying and you can eat as much of it as you want.

Cigarettes - nicotine in cigarettes is another well known stimulant. 
Substitute: fruit or carrots or NJOY (check it out on my links page).
Red Meat - P
rotein takes 4 - 6 hours to digest. Therefore the immediate effect is a stimulant. A well-known theory is that when animals are being killed, they know it's about to happen. This activatesproduction of adrenaline, fueling their blood with fear hormones. These are incredibly stimulating and it is impossible to remove from the meat (and milk). Most animals are also injected with hormones.
 
Substitute: - fish.
